Recent Research Advances in the Development of Chalkiness and Transparency in Rice

The appearance quality of rice represent the primary concern consumers when choosing rice, as well a necessary condition for high-quality rice. In past, focus attention on was mainly chalkiness, and most previous reviews focused chalky phenotype while some more generalized chalkiness only indicator quality. This paper objectively analyses definitions interrelationships indicators at present stage. Then, formation mechanism research status were analyzed from three aspects: endosperm structure, genetic background, material basis. two (chalkiness transparency) selected, having greatest influence appearance, starting point. On this basis, problems in current relevant suggestions are put forward, aiming to provide theoretical basis overall improvement under large-scale production conditions.
